This 19th century piazza has undoubtedly the best panoramic view of Florence. The square is decorated with copies of Michelangelo's sculptures, but it's the view people come here to see.

great view of the city - specially for sunset

for sunset many people goes up to Piazza to enjoy the great view of the old city and if the sun is shining then the view is even more breath taking.

One of the most popular spot for a panoramic view of Florence. I recommend going there during sunset, otherwise you won't enjoy as much. Also bring water with you because it's a little more pricier up there.

I never seem to have enough of this piazza which is located slightly away from the old town. It is quite a walk uphill to get up there but the stunning view it offers of Florence is worth it. Must not miss!

Very knowledgeable guide. He took time to explain the details. We booked our tour with Viator which was the best part. They work with multiple tour operators and gave us choices to pick a tour at the time we wanted.

Staying in Piazzale Michelangelo

Neighbourhood Profile
Piazzale Michelangelo
Just outside the ancient walls of Florence, Viale Michelangiolo starts. It is a winding road rimmed by wonderful poplars and holm oaks. The long ascent opens up to the most beautiful and famous panoramic viewpoint of Florence: Piazzale Michelangelo, where an elevated terrace offers visitors an incomparable and breathtaking view of the entire city from above. During good weather, Piazzale Michelangelo provides visitors with a serene space surrounded by the amazing landscape, better if accompanied by a fresh gelato from a local kiosk. During night, visitors will be dazzled by the warm lights of the capital of the Renaissance. Spend a second with the silent Romanesque beauty of the Basilica of San Miniato al Monte: the one that wishes good morning and good night to Florence!
