We went to explore. They have a lot of quality items. Good selection of wines and reasonably priced. I am not sure if there are better places for cheese, but Pegna sure has quality cheese and meats. A very good upscale deli. We brought home some Pecorina Fresca which was terrific.

I obtained a third of my meals from here while touring in Florence. There is a decent selection of cheese, canned fish, milk, yoghurt (try the coffee flavoured), bottled water, bread, ham and salamis. They can whip up some tasty panini. Also bought lots of made in Italy chocolate biscuits, cantuccini, panforte and other goodies to take back as souvenirs.... More

We stayed in an apartment around the corner from Pegna for several days and made daily visits to this store for breakfast foods, snacks, drinks, and sandwich fixings. I spent a lot of time in the store "sightseeing" the various offerings. We speak no Italian but had no trouble being understood by the courteous and helpful staff. I also picked... More

Pegna is a beautiful shop, a very elegant pharmacy and grocery store. However we were treated like second class citizens by the staff. Very rude to non-Italian speakers, tourists. High-end experience fell short by poor service. I would give it a miss.

This small supermarket is down Via Dello Studio from the Duomo. Not even a 5 minute walk. It has a good selection of food items including Tuscan specialties. Then we arrive into Florence, we come here for the coffee, olive oil, wine, water, meats, etc. that we want to have in the apartment we rent. I like their selection of... More

I could live in this grocery store! I've never seen a shop so perfectly curated, and would not come to Florence again without a visit. You owe it to yourself to make a stop here!

For various reasons, I have finished up spending quite a bit of time in Florence over the past twenty years or so. The city centre has changed extraordinarily over that time, as has its food culture, in terms of both restaurants and grocery stores. This latest period of residence has made me realise how much Florence, and Italy in general,... More

One of the coolest grocery stores I have ever been to. It's small but has tremendous character. You won't find many normal name brand items her. Almost everything is unique. Well worth a visit.

We came to know this place well, as it was close to our hotel. It has a huge selection of goods at a very good price. We were really impressed by the readiness of the delicatessen staff to make up sandwiches on the spot, according to our desires. Crusty bread, yummy cheeses and other goodies for lunch and dinner ...... More

Staying in Duomo

Neighbourhood Profile
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.
