I really enjoy the history of this fountain and walking in this area at night is so romantic. During the day full of tourists.

You cannot see the fountain as it is closed for repairs and surrounded by scaffolding. I am not sure why people are commenting that they are seeing this. Its's not available for viewing and does not look as if it will be anytime soon.

The Piazza della Signoria is a "must see" spot in Florence. The piazza is just outside the Uffizi Museum. There is much to see here, and it's really nice to see it at night. Also located at the Piazza della Signoria is the Palazzo Vecchio with its tower, the Loggia della Signoria, the Uffizi Gallery, the Palace of the Tribunale... More

The fountain of Neptune is in front of the Palazzo Vecchio in the Piazza della Signoria. The statue of Neptune which is the dominant piece of the fountain was originally completed in the 16th century and what you see today is only a copy with the original in a museum. This is just one of many attractions in the piazza.

A busy area with tourists at all hours of the day and night, this statue is a huge draw for those looking for memorable photo opportunities.

This is without a doubt the highlight of Piazza Della Signoria, one of the most beautiful statues I have ever seen in a public square

Neptune stares out into the square with a stern, commanding look and his sea nymphs cavort around him. Very macho and they seem popular with the tourists.

This is a nice quick break on your Florence walking tour. Sometimes it is nice to relax and just "tick off" one thing on your to do-list. After a few hours in Accademic Gallery, a quick peak at the Neptune fountain felt fine!

We were on a walking tour of Florence and learned about the history of all these statues and why they were built. It is definitely worth seeing and learning about the history of Florence.

Use a handheld audio guide to explore Florence, and make your way around a preset route, put together by a local expert guide. The innovative ‘audiopen’ includes a touch-screen map, which allows you to wander the city streets and learn about its sights as you go. Check out Palazzo Pitti, Florence Duomo, the Church of San Lorenze and Brunelleschi’s Dome... More

Staying in Uffizi

Neighbourhood Profile
Uffizi
Every visitor coming to Florence for the first time will immediately identify with Uffizi. As in past times, passing through Via dei Calzaiuoli, you can reach the city center, the Florence that everybody dreams of. In just a few steps, visitors can experience the rare beauty of the capital of the Renaissance. walking delighted across Palazzo Vecchio and overlooking Piazza della Signoria, up to the Loggia of the Uffizi where it is possible to fully taste the talent of the best artists who animated Florence over the centuries. When the sun goes down, there’s nothing better than a walk along the river Arno up to the ancient bridge, Ponte Vecchio. It is full of jewels and decorated by the colors captured in postcards.
