We came here to catch a nus in order to go to Fiesole for the day. Busy, busy, busy. When we bought out bus ticket and asked which corner, the attendant pointed, but we didn't realize it was a block in that direction. Just fyi. When we returned, we crossed the small piazza, and there are lots of benches, and... More

A small city square in Florence which has a statue of General Manfredo Fanti a famous soldier who helped to unify Italy. A very old statue but well maintained. It can be crowded at times. Also be aware of pickpockets as advised by out tour Guide, at all times. You can visit it if you have the time or if... More

This is a very small piazza and not a lot going on here apart from some museums. Its not the prettiest of piazzas and this isn't helped by the road works, etc that are going on at the moment. There is a statue and a church, but only come here if you are passing through to one of the attractions.

This is an amazing place in Venezzia. Surrounded by restaurants and attractions a good place for photos. You should be aware of the pickpockets because there's lots of people in the same place and time.

It's a very nice historical place but fortunately it's very crowded and it's full of thefts. I saw a lady that she was left without the bag by someone, who basically just grab her bag and runaway.

With so many spectacular churches in Florence is was nice to find a little diamond in the rough. Perfect for silent prayer in a beautiful setting. Can't say that I was overly fond of the pigeons, but to each his own.

This place is nice to take pictures with the pigeons. (Make sure you bring some food for them if you want nice pics) The architecture is beautiful. Get ready for long waits to enter any museum. And if it rains lots the whole Piazza get flooded and you can barely walk anywhere without boots. Bummer.

Like a lot of churches in Florence, this one doesn't grab you from the exterior but is certainly worth the visit when you get inside

Ok there is a church but this is square where bus stop..so loads of gasses and people running around. Why this would be regarded as a site to see beats me...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The pleasant atmosphere of this residential area, a stone’s throw away from the Duomo of Florence, surprises everyone. A continuous flow of backpacking students provides the tranquil surroundings for the elderly residents who sit in Piazza San Marco to read the daily newspaper. Home to several universities, including the Academy of Fine Arts, San Marco is one of the most vibrant cultural centers in the city. A bridge connecting the modern cultural activity of Florence to its classic art, represented by the everlasting magnificence of the original David, resonates as a symbol of Florence and of Italy as a whole. Get lost in a Neoclassic world, a journey back in time through historic buildings like Spedale degli Innocenti (Hospital of the Innocents), San Marco church, Basilica della Santissima Annunziata, and natural jewels like the Botanical Gardens.
