I had never heard of this type of art before visiting the studio with a local tour guide. It was immediately clear that the artists take passion in all aspects of their work -- from finding beautiful rocks to cutting them precisely and assembling the mosaics. I ended up buying two mosaics and spending far more money than I imagined... More

We were recommended to visit this place from someone we met on our travels. We were warmly welcomed and they explained the whole process to us and showed us the beautiful art. If only being a young student did not mean we were on such a tight budget as i would have loved to purchase some of the intricate art.... More

We visited and the staff was extremely attentive. The shop consists of both finished pieces along with studio space with many pieces that are underway. They will do commissions. The talent that is displayed is well worth the time to visit. These artisans are what makes Florence such a beautiful place to visit. Don't miss spending a few minutes here!

I've never seen artwork quite like this--every piece is hand cut like a jigsaw puzzle to produce some of the most magnificent pieces of art you'll ever see in your life. My family was amazed at the craftsmanship and attention to detail needed to produce such exquisite pieces of art!

This beautiful shop sits between the Accademia and Palazzo Medici Ricardi. The small but intricate pieces are true gems. It is quite impressive to see the artist's space. Stones are heaped up in piles in the storefront. Then looking on, one can observe the artist at a table in the rear of the shop, meticulously working the stones to create... More

While my wife and I did not buy anything at the shop as the mosaics were a bit out of our budget this is definitely a place that we were happy that we stopped by. The shop employs several artists who work in the Florence mosaic style, which is a dying art (very few people doing this work today). The... More

Your description is exactly what Pietre Dure is: an incredible and patient work of art in the hands of very few artists left in Florence. Once you have seen the labor involved you can appreciate it more and understand the value of each piece. Thank you very much for your review. More

I looked in on this shop as it said you could see the workman at the back making their wares. However, it was closed off while I was there so I just looked around the shop which is hugely expensive for all items.

What a pity the shop was closed when you came! It's difficult to know our prices from outside the door! Anyway if you could have the opportunity to understand our craft looking at the artists at work maybe you could have more appreciation for the art! Next time you will be in Florence call us or write an email! More

We happened into this shop while heading to the Duomo, and could not get over the craftmanship of the many fabulous mosaics.
