While I generally prefer to write in Italian, I decided to write this review in English, as I think American tourists should be warned about the poor service level we encountered at this otherwise lovely boutique. Our initial impressions were augmented by the kind attention of a mature woman who waited on us. We ordered a platter made in the Montelupo style (in their factory n Umbria, perhaps a warning signal in itself). Nevertheless she mentioned that our purchase was guaranteed to be replaced in case of breakage which she mentioned rarely, if ever happens as they are very carefully packed. Our purchase exceeded $250. We signed a card and she told us that while it could not be mailed immediately since the August holidays were upcoming, it would arrive in time for the wedding. It did not, arrive before the wedding but while the newlyweds were on their 2 week honeymoon. When they returned to open gifts they followed the instructions and eventually contacted the Bottega Lastucci to request their assistance in replacing the broken platter. They were told that they did not meet the 15 day requirement and therefore they were out of luck. Not believing this possible we drove from our home in Versilia, about an hour and a half by car. We were confident that we would encounter the same salesperson. Instead we were told by a much younger, far less diplomatic young woman who repeated the same story that we were too late. When we mentioned that much of the delay was caused by their inability to send the package in a timely fashion, as the purchase proceeded the August holidays by several days, she merely repeated the same tired line that the insurance company wouldn't allow replacement, passing the proverbial buck. She said if the couple had opened their presents on time and followed instructions they would have been eligible for a new platter. So for Americans wanting to send ceramics home, be advised. You are taking a risk. We were told by the bride that it was not packaged carefully and when we reflected on the fact that it was Umbrian rather than Tuscan pottery we should have gone onto the next bottega that carried the real thing and would have been more accountable. If you do decide to send a platter there is a lovely basilica nearby, you might want to light a candle for the safe arrival of your purchase. …

Dear Sir, This is Your version.... You bought the plate few days before we were closing for summer holidays and we advised You that the package with Your plate will be sent on the first days of September and that we did. Some days later You received the package (as we saw in Federal Express shipping documents), but You tell us that the plate was broken 13days after the receiving date. There is an International law that tell that if a package is broken when You received it You have to inform immediately the sender ( not later then 7 days). This is the law. Second question: I wasn't diplomatic with You and with the other gentleman that was with You, because You enter in my shop insulting me ....a lady....in front of my customers.....with worlds like "pezzo di m...a".that is not a world that a man can say to a woman. This is our version. Regards. Elena Trabucchi Owner of the Bottega d'Arte Lastrucci.

Found this shop that was near our hotel. Met the family and told them we were looking for something special to remember our trip. The daughter was so nice and helpful. We came back later in the afternoon and met her mother and father and they helped us finalize our purchase. Since they are hand painted, they even put our last name and date on the back. So pleased and cant wait to receive our items and order more. If you want a treasure to remember forever this is it.…

Found this little shop whilst hunting for a crèche set. Lovely ceramics, wooden trays and glass. Ships overseas and was about a week to USA.
