My family and I went up the 230 step easy climb, and the view was breathtaking, but it is simply too crowded up there, You can't really walk anywhere up there, but besides that, would definitely recommend this for any Lucca-Visitors. Enjoy!

Great example of gothic architecture with oak trees planted atop. I think it stands 45 metres. Great views of the old city. 4 euros to climb the stairs for the view. Worth a look

The walk up the tower is not bad at all! You are able to take your time and bring a water! Make sure you use the restroom before as well, you might spend 30 min- 1 hour up there as the view is spectacular. The...More

Beautiful views - took some of my best photos from here. There are about 230 steps to the top. Nice there is some shade. Place was so beautiful it made me smile.

The problem with italy is, that every town has a viewing tower lol. Bit this one is really good, helped by the fact that most rooftops are roughly the same height, meaning you have a clear panorama in all directions.

My wife decided the climb was not for her so I ventured alone. The steps get steeper and narrower as you get nearer the top. However they are places to stop either to rest or to let others pass. Once at the top the 360°...More

We hesitated about the steps but it was manageable and the views from the top were our reward. You could see over the city and beyond to the hills. Beautiful

One of the oldest towers in Lucca, the Guinigi tower stands atop some 200 something stairs, overlooking the city, with a 360 view. Simply awesome. The charge is 3 euros. There is no elevator. The stairs are an easy climb, although there is an area...More

Its a climb, and the last few steps are on a single file narrower steel ladder - Don't worry you can hold on each side, and it is safe. Not a lot of room to walk the 360 degrees to View the City, but we...More

Paolo Guinigi who built the tower was himself a silk merchant so I imagine the trade was concentrated in the area and there are a few craftsmen still pursuing/demonstrating the trade in the city. Afraid I can't help you with... More
