This can be in contention as most photogenic tower, that is the bell-housing structure of the San Frediano Church. Viewed from any of its sides, it commands attention for visitors walking through the walls of Lucca. It`s a wonderful backdrop for taking a souvenir shot either of the place or of oneself. Take the time likewise to traverse through the... More

The best way to see all of the major sites, and come away with true feeling for this marvelous city is to take a guided tour (at least three hours) with a professional tour guide. Having used personal guided tours the world-over, Wanda Martinelli is in my top 5%. I spent over 40 years in the tour & travel industry,... More

A simple Basilica but so beautiful. A small fee to enter at €4. Grab a written guide and stroll through the side chapels and main church whilst reading about its history and the works of art and sculpture. Worth a look when in lucca.

This is a a very beautiful basilica. We were there at various times of the day and each added to the sense of calm and tranquility. It is very much worth a visit! Our 9 1/2 year old granddaughter loved it also.

While this Basicilia is not the most ornate in Lucca it is still worth a visit because of its age and historical significance. It is a very large well constructed building with different sections added at different times.

I could just stand and stare for hours at this beautiful Basilica. I'm simply amazed at the beautiful mosaic work on the front of the church. With the sun shinning down on the front, it just gleams. Plus, added to the fact that the restaurants and shops in this little slice of Lucca, make it that much more quaint and... More

During our Lucca's sightseeing we found this interesting basilica, build in 6 century and then improved by 14 century painting. It is one of the "must see" places in Lucca.

Gold painted unlike others in the city. There's not a whole lot to eat, or see in this piazza but this church is my favourite from the outside.

The artwork on the outside of this Basillica is as impressive as the inside. This is just one of several impressive pieces of church architecture in Lucca.

Our small group of cruise ship passengers is here to see the 6th century church of San Frediano with its thirteenth century mosaic. Walking from Piazza Anfiteatro the gold mosaic that is uncommon for Romanesque churches is very impressive and worthy of several photos to get the best lighting. Inside the church we see the carved baptismal font and shrine... More
