Piazza dei Cavalieri (Knights Square) is an attractive space in the old part of Pisa surrounded by elegant Palazzos and other interesting old buildings. The main focus (and my favourite) is the Palazzo della Carovana which now houses the Scuola Normale Superiore di Pisa (university), built in the mid 16th century and with sgraffiti on the facade.

This piazza is absolutely massive. It would be lovely to have some pavement cafes around the perimeter there is certainly enough space to enhance this square! Beautiful buildings and architecture.

Passing by this piazza I really loved it with its historic building. Very nice and gives a nice idea of ancient Pisa.

We were visiting friends in Pisa. Loved this piazza. Great building from the 16 th century with beautiful art work on the once Medici building who governed the city and now the local university. Filled with life and yet has some peacefulness To it.

This piazza is beautiful, Historic and peaceful. A full round of architectural splendour. Granted we found this piazza on a fantastic sunny day so all looked glorious but it's the one piazza in Pisa that's defo worth finding!

Yet another piazza in Tuscany, only look out while taking it in because strangely buses and traffic can drive across as well ?

Nice square located about 5 minutes walking from the Pisa tower. A famous italian school is located in this square, la "Normale" di Pisa.

This is worth a stop, though it won't take long. There is a statue of Cosimo Medici here, as well as a couple great buildings to see. But the thing to take the time to find is the marker for the tower where Count Ungolio was imprisoned. If you don't know the tale, read Dante for a chilling version of... More

You can walk through the Piazza and think hey, that's a nice open space. You will be walking through it, because there's nothing special in this part of town and you'll be going from somewhere to somewhere else. But pause, look up and admire the architecture, the statues and frescos. The Piazza deserves your attention !
