The magnificent complex of the Cathedral of Siena, its Duomo, houses a series of some of the most important monuments of the European artistic panorama. With its more than one million visitors every year, the Cathedral without a doubt represents the fulcrum of the entire complex, while other significant elements include the Crypt, the Baptistery and the Museo dell'Opera, all part of the impressive mass formed by the "Duomo Vecchio" (Old Cathedral), and the "Duomo Nuovo" (New Cathedral). Visitors will travel along a memorable itinerary to the discovery of self and the truth of faith through culture and art, the result of more than a millennium of Western history.

One of the most amazing cathedrals I have seen. Impressive both in terms of the size and interior. A must when you are in the Seine.

We didn't book in advance - so may be worth investigating - but after queuing for 20 mins or so to buy an entry ticket, we were surprised to find no family ticket or reduced rate for either of our children (12 and 16) so...More

Most beautiful, intriguing, mystical Duomo I have ever visited. Works by Bernini, Ghiberti, Donatello, Michaelangelo, Pisano, Pinturucchio, Jacob della Quercia, Gianni di Turin are all represented. Leave yourself 1-2 hours to wonder the Siena Cathedral and digest the art, sculpture, and architectural wonders of this...More

Justifies a visit to Siena on its own. A masterpiece with multiple masterpieces within. You do not have to line up as you do in the Vatican, the Accademia or the Uffizi to experience the art treasury of Italy. The beauty and timelessness of this...More

Definitely take the time to stop here and see the library and the crypt. The tour above the cathedral was also quite wonderful as the weather was perfect. Views were gorgeous. Def worth it. Ticket booth across the square in the corner.

The cathedral was a striking structure as we turned the corner on one of many Siena's streets. An admission is charged but it is worth it. The artwork on the walls and ceiling is fantastic. It is incredible that so many noteworthy artists graced this...More

As with the Duomo in Florence this cathedral's facade is beautifully enriched in white red and green marble. The architecture looks better and the inside more ornate. There is richness in colour inside and out which gives a sereneness once inside.

I wouldn't risk it. Stick to something below the knee and make sure you have a wrap or cardigan to cover your shoulders

During our visit in June2017, we made our purchase at the ticket office, kitty corner from the Duomo. No lines, very quick and easy.

Yes, we saw ladies with bare shoulders wearing a white cape type cover. They were being dropped off at the exit.
