We planned a bike tour and lunch for our family with Francesco and it was a great day! Francesco made sure everyone was safe at all times and we had wonderful sights of Assisi. After the bike tour we met his family and had lunch at their farm. They are very welcoming and prepared a the lunch after which we could not eat anymore for the rest of the day :) We loved the local and warm connection!

Hey, we are a group of 12 folks in mid-60s with widely varied bike experience but we were all game and Francesco created the PERFECT day for even us - breakfast at his place, all the equipment, sweet bike ride in the countryside followed by the penultimate late afternoon in the Umbrian sun at his family farm. A few non-riders joined us there thanks to their hospitality. Oh, my. Awesome food, homemade, family and company. They shared their home with us as the sun set ..... Doesn't get any better than that. Make sure he shows you the prosciutto in the attic! Communication - I reached out on Tripadvisor and Francesco replied with a suggestion that we talk .... for free .... on WhatsApp. I really appreciated his attention to us throughout the whole planning and day. He's a wonderful and clear communicator, sensitive to safety first while sharing passion for so many things. He invested an hour with me talking about our group and what would make for the perfect day. Then he delivered in spades. We appreciate you Francesco and your family and we look forward to next time. Thank you so much.

You have to promise yourself to experience this adventure when you are in Italy. Hospitality like you have never experienced before. You will love this beautiful Italian family. They treat you like family instantly and then you forget you still have a bike ride through acres of farms and views of the mountains. If that is not enough you then drive to the family home in those mountains and have the most delicious Italian meal you will ever have. Francesco and his enchanting parents will love you and you will think about this beautiful day forever. Promise yourself you will experience this adventure!

My experience with Francesco and his family was truly the highlight of my experience in Italy! Even months later I am still smiling at how joyful and alive I felt! Very last minute I contacted Francesco to see if he could take me for bike tour. I love biking and the thought of biking in the Umbria valley would be a dream come true. I was traveling solo before a group of students was meeting me in Assisi and wanted my own adventure. Francesco and I talked through Whatsapp - he had never had just one person request a tour before, however, he could hear my excitement and wanted to make it happen. After work one evening he picked me up and we went for a good 2 hour bike ride through the Umbria landscape. He has great bikes and is always looking out for your safety. The peace and tranquility of the ride is unlike any I've experienced before. He knows all the gorgeous places to stop for great views of Assisi on the hill and also knows the history of the land. He's eager to share about the richness of the culture and people. Rarely have I met someone so passionate about what he does - the bike tours is something he does on the side because of his love of the land, his family and biking. After our ride he invited me to join his family for dinner. His mother, Maria, cooked an amazing meal with fresh spices and foods all grown on their family farm. Of course it felt unending and each course was more delicious than the last! His father, who sells ceramics in Assisi, and I quickly found out we knew the same person in Chicago. Picolo mundo! What a small world. I quickly felt a part of the family and had the opportunity to receive an intimate look into life in Umbria. My favorite part of traveling is truly being immersed in a culture and building relationships - Francesco and his family welcomed me with open arms and indescribable hospitality. Once my own children can ride bikes I look forward to taking them!

Umbria by Bike was certainly a highlight of our trip to Italy. Our day started at Francesco’s apartment, where his delightful parents had prepared an incredible breakfast, including homemade pastries and jam and prosciutto produced on their farm. Francesco then outfitted us with well-maintained bikes and gear (he is definitely professional and well qualified in biking) and we set off to experience the beauty and serenity of Umbria, including vineyards and farms, and the quaint Santa Maria degli Angeli church. Francesco is very knowledgeable about the area and its history. He is passionate about his love for his family and Umbria. After the ride, he took us to his family farm on the mountainside, near Assissi. What an amazing view! What a memorable experience to see and learn about their farm, where they raise livestock and harvest olives, grapes, and various fruits and vegetables. His mother, Maria, who had grown up on the farm, had prepared us a meal including homemade pastas, breads, and vegetables—all grown there. Best meal of our entire trip, by far! They made us feel like part of their family.
