I've visited Lago Trasimeno many times. I went to swim and stay on the beach in summer. When herbs inside the lake are blooming the color of water becomes green. Once we took an excursion by small ship to one of 3 islands- Polvese, there 2 others - Maggiore (Big) and Minore (Small). I recommend to take this trip cause... More

We are frequent day visitors to Lake Trasimeno. Lovely walks along the lake. Interesting shops and the best hot chocolate we've ever had in the first cafe you come to as you leave the main parking area.... sorry I don't know it's name! Lovely to take the ferry to the isalnds especially in the summer months

We stayed in a place near the lake for one night and were surprised that water in that lake is not suitable for swimming. The water had green color. Plus many many many large mosquitos when the sun goes down so it is better to stay at home in the evening.

A beautiful lake which is the 4th largest in Italy with a 60 kilometre circumference. It has 3 islands, two of which have ferries from various villages around the lake. There are beautiful villages around the lake. Most close to the lake are fishing villages. It is so good to see that there are still fishermen carrying on the tradition.... More

From Passignano it is a short trip to get to Isola Maggoire. If you are interested in natural parks, pheasants or the memories of Saint Francis, visit this calm place and relax.

Someone at our hotel told us that you could bicycle around lake Trasimeno. Looking at the detailed map, I plotted out a road to cycle around without going on autostradas. We started out at Lago di Tresimeno and cycled to Passagliano, Tuoro, San Feliciano, Magione and then towards San Archangelo to return to our start point. There are views at... More
