I guess you have either to be a fan of the specific cartoon art they have on display or you go with kids. I went as part of a museums night (where you pay one entry and can visit almost all museums of Basel in one night). It was super crowed. Personally I did not like it very much. Mainly... More

The museum itself is cute and cosy, nice place to go to on a rainy day with your kids instead of a library. We loved the recent titeuf special exhibition.

This museum is located on a small and lively street with many interesting shops and galleries. It is easily accessible by public transport like most places in Switzerland. Two hours will suffice to visit this museum. There is an excellent exhibit on until April devoted to the works of Joe SACCO - a must-see.

A little know museum between the Kunst museum on the way to the Gegenwartskunst. The museum is deceptively Lange and this exhibition is very well curated. Reading information is in English, German and French and gives a good overview of Peter Gut who turns out to be Switzerland's most noted satirical cartoonist. He's also been involved with the art work... More

The captions are only in German and French. With the little French that I know, I was able to translate many of the caption and understand the humor. Some you could appreciate by just looking at the art, I found other museums in Basel to be much better

I suspect this museum has a broad definition as to what they consider to be cartoons based on their current exhibition "The World According to Plonk & Replonk", two brothers from Switzerland. The exhibit, on two floors, featured humorous photo collages made from what appeared to be vintage postcards, something the brothers are known for. The type was in German,... More

For those who wold appreciate some Swiss humour it is a new experience (even if you really don't get exactly what is so funny about it). However the fare is pushy for such a small museum, and in terms of art quality there is nothing really to see. Warning: if you do not understand neither French or German, it is... More

as a matter of fact - it's could be rather boring or disturbing for kids as the comics can contain adult content. You can actually find some nice gems and interesting pieces of art. Having several other stunning museums nearby, make sure not to miss this little place while on your art-tour. Also - as the museum is very narrow... More
