This is a great place to take the kids on a nice summer day with plenty of animals to see a nice cafe or restaurant to visit and nice atmosphere. Behind the park is a small water way that is surrounded by trees and great for a stroll. All is easy to access with small kids and a pram.

I was born in the region of Basel and I visit the Tierpark Lange Erlen since my childhood. Today I took my good friend from Portugal there and she did confirm to me that this park is always a good place to go for a walk and enjoy the great nature and the big collection of european animals. Also the restaurant... Although not far from the motorway you feel like in a world apart. Stroll through the parc and watch the domestic animals from hens to lynx and Wisent (kind of Bison). And all of this comes for free !

Easy to reach on the #36 bus and what a perfect place. We were expecting a small animal farm with the usual domestic/farm animals. However the first thing that strikes you are the huge cranes flying and nesting overhead. As you look around you realise they are all around clicking noisily at each other as they make their nests ready... More

The TierPark Lange Erlen can be accessed with Bus #36 Kleinhunigen (exit Lange Erlen). Walk through the overpass, then towards the right and through the trees to the park entrance. This park was mostly quiet on my visit with only a few other visitors walking around. For a free park, this place is pretty well maintained and it has a... More

Wonderful park with lots of animals. You can strol around the park and enjoy a familyday. There is also a smal shop where you can buy a snack and a huge playground.

This is a really nice place to go with children. It is a mini zoo very close to Basel downtown. Also there is a small café where you can have some drinks while the kids are visiting the park.

A bit hidden away and off the beaten tourist track - given that it's a community-targeted park - this is still a wonderful and inspiring idea: a free-entry animal park for kids. With a surprisingly wide range of animals to view (obviously it cannot compete to the scale of the Zoo), it does however offer a more intimate approach to... More
