A must whilst in Basel. Amazing to see the boats and how the current is used to propel them. Great views of the river, the architecture and scenery. Although short it feels like it adds some adventure to what is simply crossing a river!

We had visitors from Australia and decided it would be a good to to give the boat a go. It's a pretty quick trip across but worth the couple of CHF's it costs. It's interesting to see how the pilot uses the current and rudder...More

It is an interesting little ride. A very little ride, it takes two mins to get across. It's something to do! It's funny watching the swimmers avoid hitting it with the super fast current pulling them down the river!

Taking a leisurely ride across the Rhine in one of these meticulously maintained ferries is a great way to experience the city from water level and very inexpensive. Takes just a few minutes and is very pleasant.

I've never seen this type of simple, non-motorized ferry before, so I was intrigued. The crossing takes only a few minutes -- almost as fast as crossing the nearby bridge by foot, but lots more fun. If you have trouble walking down or up stairs,...More

Yes you can take a pram. You may want to sit closer to the cabin for shade, and its rarely windy to the point that water splashes on deck.
