Please don’t make the time to go see this unless you’re wealthy & want to tell everyone that you got your t shirt down Freie Strasse. There is a shedload if shops, many with a step and the road slopes down, and lots of cafes...More

This is the street you want to visit for shopping or sightseeing, and it is fine if you are in Basel, but it doesn't compare to similar streets in other European cities.

While walking through old basel this is a great location for window shopping all the local and upscale stores. Slightly uphill walking at points this area is great for admiring the old swiss building and historical sights while finding local, pastry bakeries offering delightful sweets.

This is just a boring shopping venue. Mostly big, well known department stores. Nothing special. A couple of expensive shops among the others.
