The church was closed on the two occasions we went to the square. There was a market on one day and it was interesting to see what people were selling.

Third church we visited in Basel and its interior is very beautiful indeed. We had the church to ourselves and could enjoy its quietness and serenity. Here are marvellous wall murals worth a trip to Basel on their own. Don't miss the side chapel for a series of murals but also make sure you also see at the end of... More

A surprise interior, with the most exquisite fresco fragments, well preserved. There were little explanation leaflets scattered around the church. We spent longer than we thought we would.

This is a must see when in the area near the university. It is so pretty inside. Not fancy, but has a really nice feel. There is also a market in the platz on Saturday 7.30 am to 4 pm. This is more of a flea market with people selling used goods. I bought a beautiful vase for $10 US.

The Peterskirche interior has a flat ceiling with arched side stone pillars. There are old markers all along the wall. Make a point to walk behind the altar and see all of the old paintings that have began to fade as well as some of the old markers on the wall. The paintings are faded, but you can still respect...
