This museum is a great way to spend a family weekend. The exhibition was created in a child-friendly way. The animals look real while the information presented is easy to memorise thanks to fun and learn style. Adults can learn new things just as much as children.

have 1 or 2 special exhibits in addition to their permanent exhibits. When I visited had one small but well curated exhibit on the extinction of animals now as well as the past. Had a very large exhibit on mummies from around the world and across cultures and places of mummification. Very informative and for kids lots of real, copies,... More

It is situated in an old building and is spread in various rooms chambers and floors. Very nice exbition, especially for the Children. The mummies exhibition was intriguing. Family and baby friendly too.. Calculate about 25 euros and 2-3 hours depending on your pace and stamina.

As part of the museums night (pay one entrance fee and access that night almost all museums of Baesl) I went to explore this place. What a gem !! For over an hour I was wandering from one exhibit to another. Mummies, Dinosaurs and other animals on display. Beautiful experiance to feel so connected to the past. If you enter... More

7 euro for two adults. Not including special exhibits I am a big fan of National History so was keen to visit Basel’s and explore. I suppose it was too much to ask that there would be information boards in English (after all this Is Switzerland) but no audio guides either! We were left moving from room to room not... More

We went specifically for the 'Mumien' (mummified) Exhibition which was great, but found the rest of the exhibits to be really interesting too. If you are appreciate taxidermy, you will love it

The museum is quite spectacular on the outside but not sure it is the most exciting museum one can visit in Basel. It is a nice activity with the kids but the collection was not that exciting for us, compared to other museums of natural history around Europe.

We went to the museum at first for the mummification exhibit but also spent time in the other parts. It was great and we really enjoyed it. The only downside was the lack of information in other language than German. They really should make an effort to translate the descriptions.

It's a very interesting museum, that lacks information in other language than german. I could have taken a better experience if I could be able to understand better what I was seeing.

A very good little museum, we enjoyed the dinosaurs and seeing the different extinct species in stuffed animasl, especially the woolly mammoth. We were sorry nothing at all was written in English and we weren't offered anything to help us understand, may be I should have asked but didn't see anything, and although I can understand French I don't know...
