Beautiful old neo- classic, neo baroque building that Gustave Revilliod built in 1877 to 1844 to house his private collection. Though I find paintings more to my liking, I was fully captivated and absorbed by beauty, diversity and vastness of the exhibits. Amazing place to visit.

If you like pottery and china, the museum is terrific. Historical overview is very clear and great pieces. Not sure how listening guide works as my wife and ai speak French so we relied on the written explanations on the cases. Look up and around also- the house is gorgeous. It also advertises glassware but very little of that.

Back in 1980 the restoration of Geneva's Ariana Museum was the subject of considerable polemic. Should the 19th-century building be unchanged, as specified by Gustave Revilliod in his will, or improved with more modern technology? Should the magnificent staircase that was initially foreseen actually be constructed? After 12 years of work the building was reopened, some of the contents were... More

This is a ceramics museum but in a very nice building and surroundings. While the decriptions of the exhibits are in French, it is still worth a visit, free entry!

What a curious and lovely surprise this free museum is. The lovely building, which looks like it belongs at Versailles, was built by and for a wealthy man so he could warehouse and showcase his extensive glass and ceramics collection. If you go this summer you can see the Nicolas Leiber exhibit on the second floor, which is modern and... More
