As old European towns go, Luzern is pretty much average. Some interesting architecture, some interesting history. Definitely walkable.

A walk crossing the Kapellbrücke bridge to old town is quiet awing especially at the time of sunset.THe restaurants set across the bridge to enjoy a lovely evening are just apt
A large number of old pedestrian streets with many graffiti decorations. an easy walk of about 2 to 3 miles, camera needed
The old town isn't as spectacular as that of Bern or St. Gallen, but still it's not to be missed. The painted buildings are wonderful!
Old Town was originally conceived by the Romans. In the center you'll find squares and narrow streets two chariots wide. See for yourself. Walk around and breathe in the ambiance.
From the churches, to the bridges to the castle etc. there is a lot to see. I got up early to avoid the buses and the heat, and got some good photos without hoards of people. Right across from the train station and boat dock.
Even on sunday morning - the place is lovely. Seems that when shops are open will be better to visist. The bridges are nice. The lion park is nice
