Unbelievable experience for me. I though that I had little fear of heights, but yes it was a little nerve wracking at a couple of points. Won't forget it as long as I live

Grateful for this free attraction. We brought our own equipment. The views were spectacular. I wish we had these in the US.

Really unbelievable. Be prepared for some thrilling terrain and heights. We hired a guide in Murren and he was awesome. Not for the faint of heart!

The short story is that I recommend this without hesitation, as long as you are reasonably fit and do not have a severe fear of heights. The longer story is as follows. Firstly, I would highly recommend going with a guide. Our guide Dave, an...More

It was our first Via Ferrata walk, and we would like to do it again! Our guide Dave was amazing, very professional, calm and helpful. Views are spectacular, nothing can be compared with seeing the valley below from the top of the cliff, 1 km...More

This experience was nothing like we've ever had before! My husband and I knew a little bit about the Via Ferrata, but did not know fully what to expect. There ended up being multiple obstacles that gave us a thrill! We always felt safe though...More

The Via Ferrata is an excellent adventure. The course is well maintained and it would be impossible to get lost, due to the fact that you are harnessed to the cable the whole time. We rented our harnesses, helmet and gloves from Panoramic Restaurant Alpina,...More

Dave, our guide, couldn't have been more helpful or more calm. The views of the valley below us and the mountains above were really quite spectacular. And if your looking for an adrenaline rush, the portion of the climb where you're hanging off the cliff...More

This is an awesome hike. It includes three ravine crossings: two short tight wire walks and a lengthy suspension bridge. If you plan to make this hike, and you should, Dave Barlia is a terrific guide.

I am a mildly experienced rock climber. Can anyone comment on the need for a guide. I have never done via ferrata but it looks pretty straight forward. Then again, being safe means being educated.

As long as you have or are renting the equipment ... pretty much anyone can do it without experience.
We are planning a trip to Switzerland, staying in Wengen for 4 days...want to do the Via Ferrata. Keep reading about a great guide name Dave. Anyone have a link to his contact information on how to hire him to our guide?

Looks like you were given the link. Dave is very flexible especially with weather conditions. You may want to plan an alternative day in case your first choice doesn't work.

Any suggestions on the best time to start or what time the gear shops open? Thanks in advance.

Hi Sasha, go early in the day, just so you don't increase chance of late afternoon rain storms. Once you start, you need to finish. The Mountaineering store where you rent the harness opens at 8:30 AM. Stager-Sport... More
