We took a quick train from Lugano to Bellinzona. We walked to all three castles in Bellinzona and it was worth the walk. It was roughly around 10 miles of walking in Bellinzona so I would recommend being prepared to get some exercise in. With...More

A beautiful castle with wonderful views including of the other two neighboring castles. The grounds are expansive and perfect for picnics on a nice day. It includes a small but well curated archaeology museum. It’s also located in a pretty town offering gelato options.

This looks like the most authentic and picturesque of Bellinzona's castles. I think if someone was short of time, this would be the one to visit. It's only a short walk out of town.

Do take the time if you are passing through this town to visit this castle, which gives you a lovely view of town and helps you understand the strategic importance of this part of Switzerland.
