We saw this castle primarily as it is on the UNESCO list. It looks striking in the approach to the town. It is perfectly restored also. However, other than the history and architecture, I felt like there wasn't anything otherwise to see. Grand site but...More

There is a reason for the castles (3 in all) being listed as world heritage. We were overwhelmed and would encourage anyone going though the Gotthard tunnel to stop off and see at least one. These are the real deal.

Very nice and compact old town of Bellazonna, with a lot of nice heritage buildings in diverse colours. Offers a very local orientated scene, with its clocktower and the small streets that makes it somewhat unique. From the city, the three castles are also not...More

Belinzona, a little town in Tessin has three nice castles,, wonderful illuminated in the evening it looks as a lighting fairytale, illuminated of every angle, so nice in the dark night. If you visit Bellinzona dont' miss to visit with a lift, the castelli.

Tip - ALL of the information / history about the three castles is held at Castle Grande & surprisingly considering the site has been occupied for 7300years, there is very little of it. Not knowing this, we thought we would start at the top &...More

Went to all 3 castles while staying in Bellinzona. Each is a tad diferent. I really wanted to get some hiking in and some good scenery...this fit the bill! Wasn't able to read much at the museums because they didn't offer an English translation.
