We went up on 16 November and the mall was closed, with only one cafe I think. Luckily we brought own snacks and had great picnic watching the Matterhorn and alps. Information centre said that no trekking today thus we need to buy the full return ticket of sfr90 per pax. Having reached the top, the Matterhorn tip was commonly... More

My fiancé and I took the Gornergrat Bahn up and stopped at every stop along the way to explore and hike. It was wonderful at every elevation, though having just arrived in Zermatt the day before we definitely noticed the difference in our endurance due to the elevation. We just took it easy and drank lots of water. The views... More

If you are staying for a short trip in Zermatt you should definitely take the train and climb the Gorergrat mountain! Go till the top although the ticket is quiet expensive (everything is expensive I. Zermatt..!) and you will not regret the view. An amazing scenery will open in front of you with the glacier and the Matterhorn. You can... More

A short journey by mountain railway from Zermatt, we reached the Former great to get a close view of Matterhorn. The train climbing to a height of 12000 feet, ran through snow clad terrain. On top, you have a small cafe where we ate beautiful swiss food and hot coffee. At this height you find Alpine Goats. The view from... More

A friend said I MUST visit Gornegrat when Im in Zermatt. I woke up extra early, and took the 2nd train that went to the top. If you want to enjoy the view with not so much disturbance, then waking up early is worth it. I was lucky enough to come up to the hight of more than 3000 meters... More

Hello. We visited gornergrat in August and it was just breathtaking. The views are magnificent no matter which way you look. We also visited Matterhorn glacier palace and whilst it had amazing views it didn't have anywhere near the wow factor as gornergrat had. Gornergrat is an absolute must see if visiting Zermatt. Tip. The 3 day peak pass is... More

An a clear day this is the place to be. The mountain at over 10,000 ft high overlooks the Matterhorn and also the surrounding peaks and Glaciers. The location is accessed by Cog Railway and is a starting point for many fine mountain walks. There is a Hotel and Observatory together with an inside Cafe outside Restaurant and bar and... More

Up there you can see 24 peaks over 4000 meters. It's not just the Matterhorn you can see, you can also see the highest swiss mountain called Doufurspitze.

The route up is beautiful, very scenic and the way snow just comes in on both sides is beautiful. The snow just keeps becoming thicker and its lovely. A must do is to check the weather before you decide to go, we could not see the Mattehorn as it was pitch dark cloudy day :-(.. But must do!
