The cathedral is supposed to be the finest Gothic building in Switzerland. It is a beautiful building. Besides religious services there a numerous concerts that are played here. There's a 7,000 pipe organ here. I didn't climb the tower but the views from outside the cathedral are worth the walk up the covered stairs.

This is the largest Gothic Cathedral in Switzerland and the most impressive, according to architectural historians. It is indeed a very large and impressive building, with beautiful towers and a spire, which tower over the city of Lausanne. As the cathedral is rather austere inside, this allows you to appreciate the pure architectural line all the more. The most decorative... More

If you're in Lausanne and you like this kind of monuments... You must arrange some time to walk in the streets near the cathedral and visit it. I woul recommend to check if any concert is scheduled. The cathedral has a huge Iberia pipe organ and concerts usual.

I went into the cathedral during a very rainy afternoon as a way of seeking refuge from the torrents of rain that fell in Lausanne that day. But the insides of the cathedral was breath-taking ! I wish I had a guide with me to explain the history of the sculptures or a bit of the past of the place... More

Usually I'm not a big fan of cathedrals or churches, but this one is actually very nice and interesting to visit. I liked it that it is almost bare of ornaments, besides the beautiful colored glass windows. Didn't spend there too much time -- maybe 15 or 20 minutes -- and it was enough for me.

It is very sad to hear about the wonderful decorations and colors which were purposely taken down by the austere protestants taking over from the Catholics. There is a special room for pilgrims which is worth visiting and a tomb with an unusual story as well as spectacular window and organ. Better to go with a guide .

From the moment you enter this cathedral you are gripped by its history. Building started in the 12th Century and its antiquity is evident. That said you can see the evidence of its development over the centuries with a magnificent new organ taking centre stage. A place of peace and contemplation and a must see if you visit Lausanne.

I have visited Lausanne Cathedral many times. This visit was probably the best, because at the moment there are no renovations, everything is as it should be – calm and peaceful. It's a beautiful church with an amazing rose window, that's why I recommend to visit it on a sunny day before or around noon, as the sun shines through... More
