I took uber from the hotel which was very convenient except the driver doesn't speak or understand English barely but trip was brief so I didn't mind at all. The Chateau was a must see place in Montreux but if you are travelling alone, it's a bit scary. They converted downstairs supposedly old prison cells to winery and viewing areas... More

This is now one of my new favorites!! A very well preserved and restored castle with a stunning backdrop of snow capped peaks and the clear shimmering water of lake Geneva. The visit comes with a pamphlet giving you info and directions so you don't miss anything and rooms are full of exhibits and stories. Lovely beach near by for... More

My first castle and I wasn't disappointed. I was by myself so I got to take my time touring everything. Gives you a glimpse of how life used to be. The views were amazing. The only thing I would caution about is the steep staircases when you get to the last portion of the tour....steps are very steep and there... More

It was the only rainy day of my whole two week holiday and the only opportunity to visit the chateau. I waited for a break in the clouds and set off at a fast pace along the lake from Montreux, stopping occasionally to look at the spectacular scenery and sculptures. A few hundred metres from the chateau, the heavens opened... More

This is a beautiful but somewhat small castle - not as grand as some of the others in Europe but it's very well-preserved and fun to visit. They give you a map with about 25 specific places to go in the castle and each one has a nice exhibit with information and/or artifacts. Families with kids could probably stay here... More

The whole staff did an excellent job about the organisation of visiting. There are numbers that you can follow and in the map they give you there are specific informations for every spot. Definitely... More

This castle is reputed to be the most visited historic monument in Switzerland. Whether this is true or not, it is well worth a visit. It's origins date back to over 1000 years ago and has in its time been a grand residence, a prison and munitions store. Lord Byron visited it and wrote the poem, 'The prisoner of Chillon'.... More

Chateau de Chillon is THE castle by the lake you so often see photos of. Beautiful castle in an even better location. It's a very worthwhile visit for anyone, even if you just come for the views and not the castle! Must sure you spend some time in the gardens before you leave.

The old charming chateau must to be visited when you are in Montreux. It not only from inside, the outside location is also beautiful. Try to buy the Wine - I bought both, Red and White.. it was good !

The château is a great place to visit as it mixes several avenues of interest. It offers great architectural interest and interior decoration. There are temporary exhibits from time to time that feature furnishings or life tools from the historical era of the castle. The dungeon was where the famed "Prisoner of Chillon" was kept and is of extra interest... More
