My favorite activity in Montreux is to spend time along the 11 km flowered lakeside promenade that runs from Clarens to Villeneuve, then resumes again in La Tour-de-Peilz and runs through Vevey. For me, there are four distinct portions. The first portion runs from Clarens...More

Don't bother!! Montreux is way past its sell by date. 1970's buildings with a tatty tacky lake front. Ouchy in Lausanne knocks it into a cocked hat xx

A wonderful and relaxing walk along the lakeside - and unlike most other activities in Montreux its free! Set aside a few hours (or more) for this activity when visiting.

We have been going to Montreux for many years and the walk along the lakeshore is the highlight. The view of the Alps across the lake is stunning and the flowers and shrubs along the walk superb. You can walk for miles and should!

Flowers, trees, magnificent sculptures, and restaurants line the lakeside walk, which goes for miles through Montreux and neighboring towns. It is spectacular. The Promenade along Lake Geneva is just lovely. Flowers beds adorned the promenade. Cute stands along the way. Want icecreme? Maybe cold drink? Whatever you want or not, just strolling is peaceful with the mountains in the distance. Enjoyed.

You can walk all along the lake from Villeneuve to Clarens, with the most interesting flowery section around Montreux, and exotic plants: date palms, tobacco plants, bananas, grenadines, giant magnolias... even in winter the gardeners fill the beds with heather, decorative cabbages and so on....More

Montreux has a microclimate, it's usually fine - but it's too early to be more precise.
