The fascinating old building is completely inconruous with the contemporary art inside. Think painted stoves with saints on them with two hands holding guns that fire at each other. I'm not sure I liked the combination, but the two things separately were each worthwhile.

It was quite nice to visit this place, mainly for two reasons: 1- it's in a very beautiful area, very close to the Bellevue (you actually have great views of the Old Town from some of its windows!); 2- how else would I have found out about what is being produced by the Swiiss contemporary artists without having come here?... For the Art Lover an intimate experience with ranging exhibitions of modern and classical art, friendly and knowledgable staff. Just right for a valuable 2 hour break on a shopping spree on nearby Limmatquai, Gemüsebrücke, Münsterhof and Bahnhofstrasse. Easiliy reachable by tramways 4 and 15 to Stop Helmhaus ( Rathaus )
