The Regentessekerk of Apeldoorn is beautifully situated, next to the Oranjepark and between the architecturally interesting villas of this district. The Regentessekerk was built in 1931, designed by the architect J.H. (Herman) Klosters (1897-1963). He was also the master builder of several monumental villas in Apeldoorn. The client for the construction of the church was the Dutch Protestant Union. Today the church is used by both Protestants and Remonstrants. The Regentessekerk is a relatively small, rectangular hall church, with a front porch and an extension at the rear. The side walls have strikingly designed windows, which are somewhat reminiscent of small side chapels. All parts, porch, nave, "side chapels" and extensions have their own gable roof. On the ridge at the front a small but graceful roof ridge with a copper-covered spire. The architectural style of the church can best be described as business-expressionist ... the building also evokes associations with the Amsterdam School architectural style. In 1931, this church replaced a previous church building, dating from 1883. The stained glass windows are by the painter and glazier H.G. Bokhorst (1895-1972). A pleasure to look at, this beautiful church! Be frugal with this building, Apeldoorn!
