Do not go to the museum if they are in between 2 exhibitions and are therefore changing. A waste of your money, even if you get a discount (I saw later on the website). We were not told about it at the entrance, an employee halfway through the museum told us this. No idea where to go and what the collection was. Really a disappointment. Were less than 20 minutes in and then we really tried.
But by cycled Palace het Loo, that never disappoints.

You would expect a museum to be customer oriented. Well. Think again. The CODA museum has a website with 'plan your visit'. That display opening times for Tuesday through Sunday. Well... think again. The CODA has a sign on its doors that during the summer months (June, July and August) they don't open at all on Sundays. Kind of awkward to have your visitors find out when they are on your doorstep, wouldn't you agree? All the fine art in the world cannot overcome such a lack of customer orientation. Of course it might be difficult to get enough volunteers and staff work during summer Sundays, but it is the season that you can expect the general people to have some more leisure time, get visitors from abroad and try and go to your museum.

Sunday, a little cloudy and not sure what to do. After an easy morning we went to Apeldoorn, a nice suburb about 45 minutes from Amsterdam. Famous for its palace and the environs with sand, forests and don’t forget the hunting lodges. Yes, you know what to order in a restaurant in autumn or winter.
Their local museum, Coda, is specialized in Jewelery. They have the largest collection in The Netherlands and have the aspiration to grow. Mostly focused on Northern Europe but also covering some other areas in the World. I enjoyed to straw and look at the different objects, some extreme and some still a mystery. After 2 hours the sun was shining. We went outside and took a drink on one of the terraces nearby, enjoying the relative laidback environment.

The Coda museum is very transparant building with inspiring compehensive exhibitions. It is worth visiting and it is a nice play to spend your time. When you sit in the museum-cafe you have a nice overview and you can enjoy the different elements of the transparant, see-through, architecture. I liked the diversity of the 'What remains' exhibition. Check the museum-website for the actual exhibitions at the time of your visit.

I visited the paper art exhibition in October and it was really excellent. Everything was really nicely presented and the selected items on display were just awesome. The best part was the video about how the whole exhibition was set up. Usually you don't think about such things...

This is a small museum, but they have beautiful exhibitions. The exhibitions change, so be sure to check the website as to what collections they have. There is also a small gift shop worth checking out, with some beautiful jewelry. There is also locker space for you to put away your bags and coats, which should be helpful during the winter.

I had never earlier been in this museum and took a taxi from railway station. I walked back because it is not very far away. Museum is quite spacey and it is connected with a libraray. I enjoyed a lot of exhibition of finnish contemporary jewellery.
