Excellent museum of art with changing temporary exhibitions of modern art. The staff is very helpful. The design of the museum converts the museum itself to a piece of art. Special educational programmes for children.

We enjoyed both permanent and temp collections, which are quite sizable. Our favourite was the porcelains and Delft blue collections from China, Japan and the Netherlands. We also joined the special excursion to Borgens (estates) outside of Groningen. It was a good half-day tour on...More

I visited the museum with my friend. The great news many may not be aware of ... if you study in Groningen, you get a free admission! The museum displays both old and modern art. I particularly enjoyed very broad exhibition of Maarten Bass.

Groninger Museum is a must see when visiting. The architecture is amazing, make sure you see all the passages and rooms. There is a lot of modern art, check for exhibitions before going. It si very close to train station, recommended when visiting from Amsterdam.

The museum itself is a work of art. It has a great collection, but i love the special Exhibition. It's on a great location, nearby city center and public transport

A must visit for anyone going to Groningen. Set in front of a river and smack in the center of the city.

While we could only persuade one of the teenagers to join then we had an interesting 3 hours exploring the museum. We especially liked the diversity of the museum with something for everyone, classical art, history and indeed very challenging contemporary art. Worth a visit

Colorful expressionist paintings taking you through Groningen and beyond. Also a room with single masterpieces worth checking. Of course there is a room with regents and rich people paintings amongst Israels masterpieces and also Rubens and a Single van Gogh; really nice.

Some friends and I went here to see the Rodin exhibit early in 2017. The exhibit was excellent, but was temporary. The rest of the museum's permanent exhibits are good, with heavy attention paid to modern art and Dutch artists, but the admission price is...More

This museum has the perfect size for a 1 day visit. There are some very versatile exhibitions - both local history and modern art.

I stayed in Mercure Hotel in Martiniplaza, it's a 15 min walk from the city center, but it's very well maintained, not extremely pricey and has a good loyalty program. I would advise for business trips, for touristic trips... More
