Plenty of flower gardens, chairs and benches out in the grass area, enough tree cover to block the sun, beautiful landscaping throughout the park, and plenty of trails for bikers, walkers, joggers, etc. We spent the majority of our mornings in this park to start our day. We would visit a close coffee shop and grab some pastries and coffee,... More

I cycled through Vondelpark on a bike tour and came back on another day for a walk. It's a really beautiful park to visit if you want to get away from the city for a bit. It's quite big so you could easily spend half a day there, and you are treated to different views in each section of the... More

We strolled around the park on our own and rode through it as part of a bike tour. It was incredibly busy on a Ascension Day as all the locals and tourists convened for some sun and nature time. The park is beyond gorgeous. It really doesn't feel like you are in the middle of a large city even though... More

The park is easily accessible due to the many trams that reach it. The park is about 4 km long and is suitable mainly for walking, running and cycling. The park is full of fountains, ponds, and especially large green trees, but there are also interesting attractions, there is a small cafe and a few ducks and seagulls , A... More

A lovely park to wander around - allow some time as it's massive! Find a spot and read a book, people watch or enjoy a picnic with new friends.

We were so lucky with the weather during our short break in Amsterdam so decided to hire bikes and cycle round the Vondelpark. It's really lovely, scenic and well laid out. It was busy as it was a bank holiday but lovely all the same. It's not too big, it doesn't take long to ride round. We really enjoyed our... More

We visited the park on a national holiday in May and it was extremely crowded, there was literally no place to sit. Most of the people were sunbathing, so do not be surprised by many half naked bodies during the warm season. The lakes were very shallow and the water was pretty dirty, but I guess it is the same... We visited last year and this year. Rented some bicycles and rode down and through the park. What a gorgeous little set up. Definitely worth a visit to get away from the chaos in the centre of Amsterdam

Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighbourhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
