Chill out

After some business in a coffeeshop or sightseeing the Vondelpark is a good place to chill out. Some cheep hostels are close by as well.

Our favourite park by a mile! Everyone is there..dog walkers, cyclists on their way to and from work, tourists getting to grips with their hired bikes! The whole park just flows with energy. There's a large cafe in the park for a hot chocolate or meal, and pleanty of green spaces to let kids run off steam. (the houses around... More

Lovely park, great place to have a run, relaxing walk or a bike ride. Had a guy there playing the sax which was nice to listen to. Great park, shame weather was raining and cold. Would love to visit again in the summer time.

This was a wonderful park for bike riding with our kids. Several playgrounds to explore and a few cafes/restaurants.

We spent an hour walking through the park on a sunny morning. Quite and away from the traffic, the park is surrounded by many fine houses. Nice tea shop in the park for a sit down in the sun.

Always usually come to Vondel but missed it last time. Hadn't planned to go this time but was nearby so popped in. Sat on a bench and was treated to an amazing natural bird show, showing the hierarchy within the park. It was stunning. I'd forgotten just how amazing Vondel can be.

Vondelpark is a really nice change of pace in the city of Amsterdam. There is practically no green space at all anywhere in the city. Because of this, when you walk up on Vondelpark the depth of the greenery is absolutely wonderful. This is a really great place to take some bread, cheese and wine and simply relax for a... More

Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighbourhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
