The flower market, whatever the time of year, is a constant tourist draw when visitors come to Amsterdam. Autumn is given mainly to bulb growers, and displays of live flowers are patchy. The importers of exotic foreign plants and flowers can still generate interest amongst the...More

I'm assuming there are certain times of the year where the vendors here might actually be selling living, grown tulips and perhaps other flowers, but that was not the case when we came through. There were, however, lots of tulip bulbs and fake flowers being...More

We spent some time here at the biggest flower market in the world. It wasn't spring time or tulip season, and we were there about 9.30 am,well after the busy early morning. However it was still a thriving hive of activity with little motorised carts screaming...More

Put aside any romantic notions of seeing a 'floating flower market'. This is just a series of outdoor stalls selling souvenirs and ordinary bulbs at a variety of price levels along the street, buyer beware.

Three couples. Men did the Heineken Brewery tour. Ladies did the shops and the flower market. They enjoyed it so I have to give some stars. But I've had to take most of them away again. The missus bought two "flowers in a tin" where...More

Lots and lots and lots of bulbs to choose from. Make sure you go from end to end then look to buy on your return because prices can vary from stall to stall.

I can imagine this place is GORGEOUS when tulips are in season, as it was beautiful even when they weren't. We live in the US, and were looking for bulbs we could bring home, as some are pre-approved to get through customs. There weren't many,...More

My boyfriend and I visited the market as we was passing through the city. It was a beautiful market with small shops around it, everything was filled with tulips! Would definitely recommend visiting!

If you have an interest in plants the market is worth a visit. It's a nice walk along the canals if you like looking at old and wonky buildings (as I do). While the markets stalls themselves get a bit repetitive, there are also several...More
