Go to the Van Gogh when you're in Amsterdam!

The Van Gogh Museum is one of the most efficiently and logically organized museums we have ever visited. We thoroughly enjoyed it and would love to visit again.

Amazing that the museum makes visitors queue in the cold and rain what a welcome. They could easily manage indoors with the space they have. The story of Van Gogh is interesting but repeats more than once as the tour progresses. A must see in Amsterdam only if you are a Van Gogh fan otherwise not worth the price of... More

Museum is well organized and guides you through the genius of Van Gogh "step by step". I suggest to use audio guide to better experience the visit

Really nice museum. Make sure to book the tickets online in advance. You will save so much time from waiting in the queue line.

The story of Van Gogh's life and his art are compelling. The museum is a good place to start learning about both. Be prepared for large crowds. It's best to arrive early, before the Museum opens, or wait until late in the day. Book tickets on the web to avoid standing in line (sometimes for more than an hour). With... More

Beautiful exposition, interesting facts, modern premises. 2 hours just vanished, since we came at 15:00 and museum closes at 17:00. So have a bit more time to explore.

Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighbourhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
