This area in the oldest part of Amsterdam is known for the red neon windows that display barely-dressed prostitutes advertising their services; it's all perfectly acceptable as long as it stays inside this designated area of the city.

The Red Light District - heard so much about it. Not to say that we went to gawk at the ladies in the windows ... but it is a really unique and fascinating place to visit. Out of respect, no photography is allowed. But the...More

In view of the 'me too' campaign it saddened me to see this happening. This was not for me. I did not inform myself of it's history or why it came to be or why it is continues.

Definitely an eye opening experience. Possibly more fun for Stag & hen parties but very limited options for a myself with a spouse.

We decided to take a little look around as it seems to be one of the 'must-do's), and it was located so close to our hotel. While I didn't use any of the services/facilities, I found it quite an interesting experience to look around and...More

While this won’t be everyone's cup of tea, we enjoyed walking through the red-light district during the day. We felt safe the entire time we wandered the streets of Amsterdam, including this district. The shops are fun and the people-watching is entertaining.

The smell of marijuana in this region destroyed our stroll. Not impressed to say the least! Could have skipped it

I have been to Europe twice in my life and to Amsterdam several times in between. It is such a unique and liberal city, a lot of the world could probably use some examples from it. Such as the Red Light District, I walked around...More

It’s a lively, buzzy area. Beautiful buildings along the canal. Lots of small shops and eateries. Yes the girls are in their windows, and some people go in, others gawp, others look in all the shops with equal interest and some avoid looking. Fun area...More

To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the

There are many hotels in the main city centre, the public transport is excellent, so if you do stay further out, the trams will get you to and from no problem. As for the RLD, no photos, just in respect (and it’s plastered... More
