I was a little reluctant at first when my friends suggested visiting a maritime museum, but I needn't have worried, we all had a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon. Lunch in the restaurant was fabulous too, would highly recommend.

Even though we add not enough time to visit the whole museum, what we saw was amazing, especially the Amsterdam ship wich took us back to the XVII century. A must see!

A visit to this wonderful maritime museum is a must. The beautiful old building set round a quadrangle has been extensively and sympathetically modified to house many exhibits, artifacts, models and paintings. a superb transparent roof has been fitted over the quad from the roofs of the building. Each building has a different aspect of maritime interest which is well... More

This museum is packed with fascinating information. There is an amazing exhibition detailing some of the world's earliest known maps and atlases. As well as the possibility to explore a replica of The Amsterdam, a ship that was wrecked during an East India Company expedition. The ticket price is €15 for over 25's but there is plenty of things to... More

This museum offers a very interesting and cool look into the Dutch naval and maritime history: The Dutch have always been a seafaring nation, with the glory days in the 16th, 17th and 18th century. This museum captures all that in a way that is captivating for young and old alike. And the replica in front is just awesome!

Two of us(Male, 30- we love the sea, history and everything related) entered this museum expecting to see all the magnificence of once biggest naval force in the world, it's history, beauty, objects, story, etc. But instead we got a great, first-class, experience... for kids. The ship replica is younger than me and everything is like a toy there :D... More

On a chilly day with young kids it is a good to stay a while at the Scheepvaart museum in Amsterdam. Here you get in touch with the origin of the Dutch wealth. The children see pirates everywhere. The adults see old sea cards, a nice replica of one of the ships of the famous Dutch fleet and the stuff... More

We had a great time at this museum and exploding the sailing ship outside! However, it could have made better use of the digital audio guides.

It was grate expirience. Very very interesting place with a lot of things to view. I don't understand why this grate museum is not in top of any list of "must visit" place in Amsterdam. So you cat there with friends, childrens, family and everyone can found there many interesting things.
