We had a lovely breakfast here consisting of scrambled eggs, toast with jam and butter, a croissant, tea and a delicious yogurt with fresh fruit and granola. No complaints, friendly staff, nice building. A perfect start to the day.

We went for a early dinner on a Sunday evening - and deeply regretted it afterwards - stomach ache for days afterwards. Ordered what should have been a kind of Thai Chicken Soup - what arrived at the table was a small bowl with bean sprouts and a few pieces of grey looking chicken and 2 coriander leaves floating in... Lovely place where you can relax or have business talks in a Dutch atmosphere where the staff takes good care of you and suggest the best international food and wine (I had a surprisingly good German wine!). Highly recommended

Let me be very upfront: I don't like political correctness and socialism. This place is drenched with left wing political correctness and socialism of the worst kind. It's everywhere. In the attitude of the people who visit and the staff. The first, most bad thing about socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money. The (only) good... More

Good place to eat, good beers. This is the first place I ate at in Amsterdam, it was actually recommended by the staff at the Hard Rock Café store. It is just nearby. It seems to be quite popular with the locals. And the food was reasonably priced and good. I spent a total of 25 Euro for a burger,... More

Great place to sit down for a chat with a lovely service, great food and coffee. Right in the city centre as well. Not overpriced.

De Balie could not be more centrally located. On the Kleine-Gartmanplantsoen, adjacent to Leidseplein. Food is really good. A short lunch menu, following the famous Gordon Ramsay. Swift service, nice people. The restaurant's bar is a hotspot in the evening and at night.

De Balie is completely different to all the restaurants nearby. It is not a tourist place, but local arty political combo joint. The dinner menu is limited in comparison the other restaurants, but it is adequate. It also has 2 vegetarian options. The wine and beer options are more than adequate. Service is good, as well as the pricing.
