Yes, I do agree that with the right angle the photo with this construction might look interesting, but actually there is nothing special about this building that attract my attention. Having in mind that it is right next to the exit from Haarlem towards Amsterdam and there is nothing else to see in the area, I would not put it... More

The Amsterdamse Poort was once the entry to the city located on the Amsterdam side of Haarlem. It is the only one still around from a total of 12 gates. This one originates from around 1400. This entry point was originally next to water. I have added some picture that show the gate in earlier times. Certainly worth a look... More

I decided to visit itand stop for 10 minutes to enjoy the scenery and have a coffee. When returning to the car I had the surprise of a traffic ticket. I know your city its rules but I had to pay 65 euros for a sightseeing. Some cities are friendly others are not. Then I warn travelers not to go through... More

This is a beautiful poort in the heart of Haarlem surrounded by water. At night the lighting is spectacular as you drive past. The sister poort called the Haarlemer Poorg is in Amsterdam. It is wonderfully maintained and well worth finding especially in the evening.

Way more than a gate, one of the main attractions of the city. Majestic and huge, made from red bricks, it's the best spot from where to start a tour of this tiny and nice city.

On the edge of town this attractive ancient city gate is a lovely relic of the past. Alas it's next to a main road and no other parts of the old city walls remain so it looks a bit odd standing as it does surrounded by modern Haarlem....you won't need a long visit that's for sure.

there is really nothing around. The gate is standing alone around nothing. It is even not impressive, looks in reality different then on some of the photos. it is not open, you cannot visit it. Not worth to make a walk to it.
