It`s a nice little museum that gives an interesting overview of the Zaanse industry. The Verkade Experience was fun, and they organize a workshop for children. The cafe is reasonably priced and has a nice view. They have an original Monet. All in all, worth a visit.

Didn't get a chance to visit the Museum, BUT the foundation that supports the Windmills and houses is amazing. We were fortunate to meet and talk with the youngest Miller in the Netherlands. He's 21, and runs the mill crushing lime stone.

Good history and exhibits about Holland's wooden windmills and houses. I did think the cost was high for entrance but if you like Claude Monet's paintings, you'll enjoy seeing his works.

This was the best excursion in our weeks stay in Amsterdam. We used our three day travel pass (great value) to get here by train and then walked to the Windmills. You can walk the site for free and just look but they offe a €15 card that gets you into all the museums and one Windmill of choice: plus... More

Our family had a better time at Zaans Schanes vs the museum and verkade experience...stick to the free park vs the museum. Its not worth the extra money for the pass.

A truly remarkable place to visit only 20 minutes by train from the centre of Amsterdam. A stunning river with working windmills and a cluster of traditional houses that recreate traditional ways of life, a weavers house shops, working wood cutting and spice grinding mills. We didn't allow enough time to see half of it. It was so pretty just... More

Best when the wind is blowing that way you can see the windmills in action. Original Monet was not expected.

We loved both the Museum and the Experience; very nicely laid out, well explained and especially the Verkade 'factory' was a great place to explore. Well worth the visit !!

The museum is part of the open air museum that is in Zaanse Schans. It has some interesting information on the history of the industries that were around the area. The Verkade biscuit part is very disappointing. A few machines which don't produce anything. I thought we were going to see the process of biscuits being made. There was some... More

This was a really good museum which gives a person some background information into the area and how the windmills were vital to the success of Amsterdam's growth. The audioguide was very useful. Entry is free with an Iamsterdam city card.
