We had taken a 1 hour guided boat trip through this fairy-tale-like village. This guided trip is safe and good when you are travelling with family. The money is worth it. However if you are a bit more adventurous you can also opt for the self driven boats. When we visited Giethoorn we saw the colors of autumn. Since it... More

Very nice activiy, takes 1 hour and you learn many things about Giethoorn by the ''captain'' a lot! Don't forget to spend time to go around the village by bicycle!

Our tour guide from Amsterdam got us here almost ten minutes late and the nice young captains held the boat for us. We got some looks from others on the boat, but the company was very accommodating and the boat was just about to capacity. The captains were nice and entertaining, they did a great job explaining the town to... More

We rented a whisper boat on a two hour tour for 40 euros. On the day we went it was cloudy and was the first overcast day for a couple of weeks so the tourist numbers were down. The first part of the trip was so lovely through the canals with lovely houses and restaurants alongside. then out onto the... More

What a wonderful day out highly recommended. Completely wheelchair/disabled friendly we took the 2 hour trip. You exit the village on one side and enter on the other. Our trip took in the beautiful man made lake and marsh land. The village itself is very picturesque with thatched houses costing in the region of half a million. Each house is... More

I enjoyed 1.5 hour boat tour by myself and 3 hours bike. The place is amazing! The houses are so cute and every house has good landscapes.I think this is the most beautiful and most enjoyable place I have been visited in my whole life. If you will visit Amsterdam in the future, you must come here to enjoy it.... More

We had a great time while doing the tour. The place itself its superb, and appreciating it from the water makes it even more special. The driver was very friendly and spoke to us the whole trip. You can choose whether to go on an hour trip or a two hour trip that also goes into nature. Prices range from... More

My husband and I rented a whisper boat with an electric motor and steering wheel. It cost 20 euros for an hour and we were given a map with a route that was very easy to follow. We were the first ones out on the canals as we were in the village by 9am. It was a peaceful and relaxing... More

We had 2h boat tour and still we were late, we got the boat quite fast since we booked it online, I think it was about 55€ and we needed to give 50€ as a deposit that later we got back. we didn't make any stop, just keep driving, but the boat was so slow! At some pont I thought... More

Thank you for your input. Just to clarify for other customers. At the moment there are a lot of waterplants growing in the water. This is quit often the reason a boat slows down, the plants curle around the propellor of the motor and if not taken of, it will slow down to prevent the cables to get to heated... More

Giethoorn is a very good city with canals. We rented the boat for two hours. The thing that I mostly liked was that you could stop the boat and look at the city and still be their in time. I didn't like that if you were lost you needed to more money for another hour. I brought an umbrella, coat,... More

Thank you for your input. To clarify for other customers: 2 hours in high season is not very long, just for the village tour and on very busy day's non stop driving, when it is a little bit quiteter there is some stopping time of about ± 20-25 minutes. Before take of there is an explanation given how to drive... More
