This museum is a combination of old and new. You can wander through the ancient part of the museum and breathe in a view of how people lived centuries ago. The kitchen area was especially graphic with dead birds and a rabbit hanging from the ceiling. On the other hand there is a newer museum part with art from various... More

This museum has got several parts, one is an old dutch house, which is interesting to look at to get to know the former life of the dutch. In the other parts of the museum you will find more modern art, mostly of very young and promising artists. I personally like this mixture of styles.

The main part of this museum is the drostenhuis, with many rooms in rich old regents' style. This part is quite nice, with also some themes about loyalty to the royals and about women's rights. I found the remainder of the museum quite disappointing. I guess my evaluation would be higher if the museum were just the drostenhuis.

The first time I visited this museum was in 1957 as an 11 year old . Revisiting this museum bought back memories . Obviously the museum has changed in that time It has changed for the better . The museum gives you a good account how Zwolle used to be in the past . The museum also houses a mummy... More

The museum provides information about the local history as well as art exhibitions. Many interesting facts about Zwolle and nearby area can be found there. The main drawback is that the information provided there is in Dutch. However, still for a non-Dutch speaker like me this place is enjoyable.

A small, but "homey" museum, with really interesting rooms decorated as they were in past times. Fascinating for architectural & decorative detail. Worth 30-45 minutes. Very different, modern feel up the pink illuminated stairs.

Unlike Amsterdam’s museum of the same name, this really is a museum about the city of its title. Excellent set of rooms in the old building presented as rooms from previous ages, with changing exhibitions in the new building. Archeological finds in the basement. Almost all written explanations are in Dutch. Good way for a visitor to get some context... More

This Museum has an old and new part, it changes displays so now and then, but most of the old things stay, so you will have a little bit an idea how things use to be

This little museum have 2 parts: temporary arts and history of the city of Zwolle. Both are attractive. You can wander in about an hour through this museum: an old golden age house. It gives a splendid idea of this time area and how the rich people lived. There's a small restaurant for some coffee. Disabled people easily can visit... More
