It is an old Abbey with a great yard surrounded by walls; get inside and you will have nice moments discovering art works.

The view from the tower is is very impressive. Going up the narrow winding stairs help me imagine the times the tower was built in and gave a little bit of a feel for the history. If your going up just for a great photo...More

We climbed the tower 197 stairs ( my little kid counted) The place is rather impressive and the view is very good The entry fee was not high comparing other bell towers

There is no outside gallery here, just an inside panoramic viewing room with windows so dirty that it is very hard to enjoy the normally excellent views

Great way finder since you can see this from anywhere in town. Beautiful tower with great views though they aren't reliable opening for admission on time.

Lots of steps but worth it! Stunning view... upstairs will be a round bench one might need after "climbing" upstairs. Don't wear loose shoes as steps may vary a lot due to the buildings age. It's also helpful to not meet somebody on those stairs...More

This beautiful Abbey Tower of Long John is situated right on the centre of Middelburg and is a great place from where to view the town. It is easy to spot from anywhere in the town.

Both in the climb of the 207 steps and the panoramic view. With no stopping places this climb can't really be taken in phases
