Come and get to know the unknown site of the province of Zeeland and the soul of its people in the new and magnificent maritime muZEEum in Vlissingen, Holland. The museum is housed in several buildings, dating back to the 16th and 21th century. Modern architecture has blended these buildings in a very special way. From the roof balcony with its unique 17th century watchtower you can enjoy the breathtaking view of the 'Westerschelde'. At the muZEEum you find: - The Lampsins'beautifull 17th century town house - Michiel de Ruyter's adventures - Underwater treasure from sunk East Indiamen - Fascinating maritime games - Stories about Zeeland's illustrious past - Vlissingen's turbulent history - Zeeland's maritime life, then and now.

Nice museum even with original plays for children and a beautiful rooftop. There is a lot to be seen about fishing, history and the sea. All aspects are available and its easy ti spend two hours without feeling bored.

A person could spend hours here, literally. We unfortunately didn't have the time to do all of that. One really cool feature that is a must do while in the museum is the observation tower. It looks like huge control tower of some sort. We...More

The old mansions of shipping magnats house this collection of maritime history. Vlissingen is proud of its role in international trade and shows it in this venue.

We weren't planning on visiting this museum, but we went through the Reptile Museum down the street quite quickly and decided to go into this one as well (always handy with the national Museumkaart). The staff, clearly volunteers, were so incredibly friendly and hospitable, sharing...More
