Went here with partner, a lovely lady taught us the history of Gouda. From Candles to Cheese and all about how the farmers look after the landscape. Only 4 euro per person and cheese sampling afterwards, we loved it that much we bought a whole...More

This was on our "must see" list for our Netherlands holiday. I would say to do it if you are in town and have 30 minutes to spare. My wife adored it, but left me feeling slightly underwhelmed. It's fun though! It's a lovely building...More

The main function of this building for tourist should be the down stairs (free) area: VVV or tourist office. They have a small selection of goods for sale but they will also help you if you have any questions on what to do or see...More

This building was used to weigh the cheese in the market The building itself is very interesting and the facade has a wonderful sculpture piece over the door way

It really isn't worth visiting the cheese museum in Gouda. The market was lovely (Thursday), but the cheese museum upstairs in the weighing house is grossly overpriced and not worth the visit. Just a few shabby exhibits and a man mumbling in 3 languages about...More

The Waag (weighing house) is also the tourist information, cheese shop and souvenir shop. The cheese museum is upstairs at a cost. You can weigh yourself on the old scales for a photo opportunity. You can also pay for a specific certificate as evidence you...More

The weigh scales on ground floor were interesting to look at however paying for the visit upstairs was not worthwhile. We watched a short film with English subtitles but there was nothing else of much interest. Observing the Thursday market outside was more interesting and...More

Waag has an authentic European decor - with high ceilings, comfy chairs and lots of places to sit. The menu is well rounded and the food has always been consistently good. The problem is the service! What service? is more like it. We were there...More

The building is definitely very nice and impressive especially at the back with the green wall . This is also a restaurant and the lack of staff lead us to leave without ordering as the waiting time was too long more than 20 minutes without...More

A nice old building and we did the tour. It's not much to see but guide was passionated about what he was showing. Not a must see but when you're around and want to learn something about cheese and clay pipes;)

I'm visiting Gouda and am looking to go to the Goudse Waag. Does anyone have an idea of how much the entrance fee is for the museum as there's no price on the website?

We went to the weighing house with a cruise tour group. The main floor is a little shop, upstairs was where we had wine and cheese tasting. I don't recall a separate museum. But they open for business and everyone just... More

The museum is the Cheese Museum in Gouda and the building that houses it is called Waag i.e. the scales for weighing cheese. The museum has a web site in Dutch, I was unable to find an English version. I think the words... More
