Great view of it from CitizenM but you can't get up to the top for the views. Book a full restaurant meal and you may have a chance but advice from the Cafe-bar at the bottom was "private". That's a bit of a shame!

Just beside the Old Harbour, on the southern brink of it, is located this wonderful first skyscraper in Rotterdam. At the times it was built, i.e. in 1898, it has been the tallest office building in Europe and this role it has kept for many years. This magnificent building 43 meters high, designed in Art Nouveau style, was inspired by Manhattan's skyscrapers.... The Witte Huis used to be one of the older hotels in Europe, if I'm not mistaken, it's the older building in Rotterdam that survived WW2.

Rotterdame is a modern looking city mainly due to its history of having to be rebuilt in the 1940/50s following WW2. Having said that there are some really nice walks to take around the city which take in the local view with the witte huis being one of them. I saw this house while taking the Bike and Bite tour... Unique part of Rotterdam having survived the big bombardment in 1940. A long time ago it was the highest office building in Europe, nowadays it is a nice and stil beautiful piece of history near the old harbour

This iconic building, close to the "Old Harbour" area and the "Willemsbrug" was built in the waning years of the 19th century. It was indeed the first "skyscraper" in Rotterdam and for a considerable period the tallest office building in Europe. The "Witte Huis" miraculously survived the devastating bombing of May 1940 and was restored to the original architecture in... More

Compared to the other buildings in Rotterdam, this one is pretty traditional, not as "crazy" as the others. Still beautiful though, located in a cool area, near water, bars and restaurants.
