The fantastic 1935 building houses an excellent collection in a most beautiful interior design, customized for art. In a way one could call it old-fashioned in the best sense: a demonstration that no white cube is needed to display high rank old and modern art nor senseless huge entrance spaces to impress visitors. And the exhibitions are examples of excellent... More

This museum covers Dutch art from the medieval period to the present day. It was a real treat to see so many paintings by Bosch, Bruegel, Van Eyck, Rubens, Rembrandt, Van Gogh, Magritte and Dalí. I also enjoyed the furniture by Rietveld, which was something that I had been vaguely aware of previously, but I enjoyed it as we kept... More

small Gispen exhib was somehow dissappointing, was really looking forward to it. It was not presented consistent and didn't really told the story of this great dutch design in a comprehenisble way. Very strangly interrupted by china ware. Also opening at 11:00 in a holiday period is not very customer friendly. Half my day is already gone then.

Beautiful museum with a combination of works in its collection. You can see contemporary pieces Dali's "The face of War", Magritte's "Not to be reproduced") as well as older masterpieces, like Pieter Bruegel's "little" Tower of Babel.

The Boijmans van Beuningen museum in Rotterdam has made a unique exhibition about the "Divine Renaissance". In particular about Fra Bartolommeo. A total of 11 paintings of this Florence painter are reunited with a lot of preparatory drawings, made by Fra Bartolommeo to prepare and try out all the details before he started to create these paintings. The drawings are... More

The free area was not much to look at or do which made it a bit boring. When you pay to go in its a bit more interesting but i would say you have to really be interested in the art otherwise you will get bored very quickly

This museum has a diverse collection spanning the spectrum from Old Masters to Modern, including a number of interactive exhibits. This was my favorite art museum of the seven we visited on our trip - the size was doable but not overwhelming and the collection is quite superb. The design sections were quite interesting as well. Note that there are... More

I came to Rotterdam specifically to visit this museum. It has a huge collection and only a fraction is on show at any one time. I really enjoyed the older work; especially Bosch, Bruegel (Tower of Babel) and the Ruebens sketches. There is also a fine survey of Dutch art throughout the collection. Modern work includes great pictures by Daubigny,... More
