In this museum you can find many historical musical instruments, and the museum tells the story of how the instruments and the musical artists are connected to the history of Antwerp. In the basement you can also see an atelier where instruments were made

This museum is not difficult to find. But somehow the entrance is easy to miss. It displays ancient musical instrument on the first floor. I could not appreciate these gems as there was no English explanation. The basement has interesting showcase on bell making.

Took the combination ticket museum and climbing the tower of the cathedral. Unknown to most people, the northern tower as a belfry is a Unesco World Heritage site, while the rest of the cathedral isn't. First a 20 minutes explanation about the bells and the...More

The collection consists largely of old music instruments, including serpents, old bagpipes, harpsichords, hurdy-gurdies, and much more. There's also some paintings and things like an old shaft for arrows. The collection is very...More

Beautiful building, definitely walk around and admire the architecture of the second oldest building in Antwerp. Started out as a meat market run by the Duke and the Butchers Guild, cellars were made for storage and the ground floor was the market hall. Upstairs (non-accessible)...More

As this used to be the butcher's guilt the façade is quite appropriate, with its red and white stripes looking like streaky bacon. The museum is well worth a visit if you are interested in old musical instruments

Although it is not expensive, we decided not to go into this former butcher halls. Typically, this site was the historical town Centre and served the general public in the past. In order to preserve the building, it was turned into a museum. The nearby...More

We visited this museum about two years ago and had a blast. It was great to discover the music from the middle ages and renaissance that is rarely heard. The visit this month however was ultimately disappointing. The difference: the audio guides, which made all...More
