Great way to see waterfalls and wildlife
What a wonderful place. We had lunch at the Trout Bar where the fish caught and served. The butterfly garden was highly informative and full of butterflies that, occasionally, landed on your hat. The trails to the waterfalls are well maintained. Their gift shop has a cooperative arrangement with Britt. The parking appeared secure and was patrolled by the local municipality. Brilliant idea to walk down to the bottom of the hill with a shuttle bus that brings you back UP! Staff was wonderful and highly knowledgeable. Overall a magnificent park that takes full advantage of the local geography!

Great way to start a Costa Rica trip
This was a wonderful way to start our Costa Rican adventure. After a long flight from London it was a relatively short drive to the Peace Lodge allowing us to settle in and start relaxing in a fantastic room (thanks for the upgrade!). Very glad we arranged for a transfer fro the airport as would not have fancied that windy mountain road in the dark and mist after the flight - and our driver was fantastic. Great fun (we had some Spanish, he had a little English but we had a great chat) very safe and a nice welcome to the country. The Lodge was excellent, the gardens, waterfalls and wildlife were great and we enjoyed the nights we spent there very much.

    Beautiful adventure
A beautiful introduction to Costa Rica. Go at your own pace or with a very friendly tour guide. We had a local guide so opted to go at our own pace. But those on tours seems very happy and we’re getting great information. We stayed for a lovely buffet lunch. We sat outside on their lovely patio, drinking in the beauty of the mountains and forest. I can’t eat gluten (celiac disease) and the staff were very knowledgeable and friendly. No issues at all and still had good options. Will definitely return with my kids someday!

    Absolutely wonderful
La Paz Waterfalls and gardens is about 75 min drive from downtown San Jose. Well worth the trip and the gardens are stunning. Many different waterfalls to view. Excellent.

La Paz Waterfall and park experience
This was an excellent excursion. The guide picked us up on time, gave us a detailed, educational tour of both the coffee plantation and the Waterfall park. The park was beautifully constructed with natural enclosures where we viewed and sometimes entered to engage with the wildlife. The steps to the waterfalls were challenging but well worth the effort . We will recommend this adventure.

    Breathtaking Waterfalls, Special Animal Habitats
Beautiful nature park with animals in their habitats. The birds and butterflies were so colorful, especially the hummingbirds! Oxen and cart pay homage to Costa Rica’s past. But, center stage are the waterfalls! It’s a lot of steps on paths and stairs. The views are breathtaking!

    Must see park with waterfalls.
LaPaz was one of the high points of our family vacation to CR - we started the day at Poas volcano in the morning then drove to the other side of the mountain to visit La Paz. We ate a late lunch at the buffet that satisfied our family of picky eaters (teenagers). We also enjoyed seeing the animals (they are rescues and for various reasons unable to be released back into the wild) but the best part is hiking the path along the waterfalls. There are some steep points but there are plenty of opportunities to opt out for a less rugged/less physically demanding walk if needed.

    Excellent service
An amazing experience! Slightly on the expensive side but definately worth it. Special compliments to John whose knowledge and passion for hummingbirds enabled me to get some very nice pics. Excellent service from all staff in general.

    Lovely place!
This place was lovely. There was a lot to see and the restaurant buffet was really good. I wish our travel agent had told us about all the stairs. My knees were toast for the rest of our visit. Great place to see though if you can handle the stairs and climbing up and down steep terrain. The hummingbirds, and butterfly garden were really spectacular. They also had some caged monkeys and some great exhibits of insects and frogs. Great for families.

    So relaxing and beautiful!
This is such a beautiful place that is well maintained and very friendly staff. We will definitely bring family and friends back here. A special thanks to the gentlemen that let us get close to the Toucan named Tequila, he took our picture with him. Sorry I did not get his name. The trek down is not easy but well worth it. I have no complaints on the property, they are doing things right. Can’t wait to come back.

La Paz was a great day trip before heading back to San Jose for our flight home. It was a nice way to see the difference between the seaside area and the rain forest. We started with a cozy lunch in the lodge and then toured the grounds. We were lucky that few braved the bad weather, allowing us to tour the habitat areas without crowds. Seeing the waterfalls was well worth the trip; they are magnificent! A lot of walking and climbing stairs, so be prepared!

The place is AMAZING! We thoroughly enjoyed our visit, what a beautiful place, very well maintained, wonderful habitats for birds and animals, great views, magnificent waterfalls, lots to see. Not for mobility limited due to a lot of stairs. Fortunately, the pathway is mostly downhill, with a shuttle return. We will definitely be back to share with family and friends

The Zoo ist nicely made with the locals animals and the way down to the waterfall ist also pretty. But to pay over 60$ per person is stolen money.

This is a must! Not much I can add to the previous positive reviews. It is really worth it - sure is a little expensive, but just about everything is in CR!
Go early and beat the crowds. We arrived just before 9 am. One car in the parking lot. We left 2 hours later, lot was full of cars and buses.

This is a very special place. It was magical. So clean and thoughtfully curated. This is a must do day trip from San Jose. Lunch was fantastic. Vegan friendly. Great staff. I didn't want to leave! We will definitely be back to stay there overnight sometime.

Amazing place, relaxed walk, pave walkways with railings. I have had many leg surgeries so was glad I could walk it. It was a challenge for me, especially all the descending steps to the waterfalls. I took my time, didn't try to rush. My legs were noodles when finished. Appreciated the shuttle to drive up back to the top! Can opt for not going down to the waterfalls and get to see everything else. I am 65

Took a tour to get here, but the actual park itself is great. Family loved the bird house, butterfly house and getting to see the sloths up close, the big cats and obviously the hike to see the cascading waterfalls. The drive to get there from San Jose is incredible to take in as well.

Visited with my then Fiancé and mother in late December 2023. Had seen the reviews about the steps and the walk back up the hill. Amazes me that anyone thought that 5 successive waterfalls along the same river could be on flat ground. But there we are. It's also incredible that some reviewers managed to miss the bus station and giant shuttle bus that takes you all the way back to reception at the end of the falls. There really isn't that many stairs to climb. But there are a lot downhill. Obviously.
The surroundings are incredible. The place is worth going to even without the animals. All animals look well fed and healthy. The toucan enclosure was a highlight. To see them so close up was amazing. The big cat enclosures could be bigger. And considering the size of the grounds, there's more than enough space to expand them.
I would have given 5 stars had I not seen the bulls, strapped to a cart, standing like statues, being forced to pose for pictures by a trainer. When their heads inevitably droop the trainer grabs their horns and shoves their heads up for the next picture. Completely unnecessary. Not taking a picture with them takes nothing away from the day out. Other than that, what a wonderful place. Would definitely recommend on your visit to Costa Rica or as a local.
