An Interesting Interior

Worth walking to. The church is very typical of the dutch/Flemish style with vast open spaces inside. There is a flea market around the outside on certain days of the week.

I bought a large tartan pure wool blanket for 5 euros here, and a brutalist style German vase for 10 euros. I visited the flea market over three days, every morning Friday, saturday and Sunday. The stalls are the same. As you would expect, all the books on sale are non english but there are plenty of them. There are... More

We spent the day in Ghent during the festival yesterday - amazing church - beautiful art, history and experience . During the festival we were able to enjoy a champagne lunch inside this most wonderful church. A must if you are enjoying the festival this week!

It was June 10th, 1996...The following days I couldn't get my students into their classrooms...they were all staring at the tower, with binoculars, of the church where a balloon had taken the place of the cross... A true story. A hot air balloon hit the cross of the church. The municipality had to make a hole in the tower and... More
