Saw The Nutcracker here, absolutely stunning venue! UK theatres could learn a lot from the very reasonable bar prices!

We really enjoyed the opera and the orchestra sitting on the first row which allows to follow the musicians while watching the expressions on the faces of the performers. The only negative remark is that hit is difficult to see the translation projected above the scene. However if you go there before the performance, there is a presentation on the... More

The two of us attended the Sunday matinee performance of Rossini's Armeda. We arrived early and entered what we thought was the crescent shaped entrance as grand and one can imagine carriages arriving and dropping off posh audience members in the dry . We were greeted and questioned by the doorman....the stage entrance!!! Ours was along the road! Doors were... More

A real cultural ikon to the Flemish community. Brought them back their their language as a favorable link to their heritage.

We enjoyed two wonderful performances of Tannhauser by Vlaams Opera. The acoustics are good, but the seating space is arranged in a slight horseshoe, so views of the stage are very restricted in some areas, such as the back rows of the loges and the sides of the upper balcony. The refreshment and meeting areas on the first floor are... More

Went to see a Philip Glass opera whilst staying in Brussels. From the train station get the number 1 tram (toward Wondelgem) and get off Korte Meer ... turn left off the tram over the square and you are there. Be warned the tram back (toward Flanders Expo) is in a parallel street (to the right of the original). Opera... More

Spectacular setting for a scientific meeting. The loges and balconies are spectacular. The large dining/reception space upstairs with ornate decor and incredible ceiling was an incredible venue for viewing posters and dining. Very special setting for a scientific meeting!

Since a while it's possible to visit the opera with a guide and it's worth to do so. You get a tour through the building, behind the scene and also on stage. The opera is a beautiful building.

The building is fantastic, with lovely and gorgeous interior rooms but the best is the acoustics...It’s phenomenal. We went to see BLUEBEARD'S CASTLE / WINTERREISE and it was well worth the money because the singers were good and the production was extraordinary. A must for music lovers in Gent.

We attended a performance of the Royal ballet of Flanders. Fantastic dancers in a very classical old opera building. It really adds to the experience.
